Mary
Seattle, Washington
status: retired
Mary and her two kittens
were abandoned at a Seattle-area library in December of 1997. Homes were found
for the two kittens, but they decided to keep Mary. Now she spends her days
napping in the chairs and entertaining the patrons. At closing time she heads
to the conference room (where she has her toys, food, and scratching post)
so she won't set off the motion detector.
Note: Mary had to go home with the library manager, because one of the patrons
complained about being allergic. Many letters and pleas were sent to the library
to keep her there, a big meeting was called, and the decision was to move
Mary out. She has a fine home, though, and lots of love.
