Smudge works at The Bookshop
in Hay-on-Wye, Wales. She was born around 1991. She actually lives at a clothing
store down the alley from the book store. Every morning they let her out for
a little fresh air, she walks up to the book store and stays the day. When
the book store closes, she walks back home to the clothing store. She likes
to follow customers around and sit in their laps if she can. She also likes
customers' shoulders. When we came in, she was sitting in the clerk's lap,
purring and drooling. She went up to the clerk's shoulder and flopped half-way
over onto her back. There she kept purring and drooling, and began rubbing
her head on the lady's back. She would pause halfway through the rub (the
top of her head against the lady's back) and look at us. Not only was her
body upside down, but so was her head. It was quite a sight to see.
