"Stox had been coming to our backdoor of our house since he was a kitten 2 years ago. We fed him every night. After a year and a half of this, we decided to bring him inside, with our other cats. We made an appointment and took him to the vet a few days later. We pulled into the vet parking lot, got out of our vehicle, and I grabbed the cat carrier. The latches were not secure on the carrier and the bottom fell out, Stox fell to the ground and ran off scared. We chased him for 2 hours, with no luck. We immediately came home, printed up flyers, offering a reward if anyone found him. Every night after work, my wife Jenny and I would meet in that area and search until after dark for Stox. We even ran into numerous other people who saw our flyer and were out searching for him as well. 5 days passed, with no sign of Stox. On the evening of the 5th day, Stox came strolling up to our backdoor looking for food, just like usual. We could not believe it. The veterinary clinic, where we lost him, is 5 miles from our home. It was truly a miracle that he found his way home from that far away. We brought him in, and made another appointment with the vet. Needless to say, we bought a new carrier for this trip. The vet ran tests on him, and gave us some bad news. Stox has FIV - Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. We were devastated to say the least. Our emotions went from high when first bringing him in, to low when we lost him, back to high when he found his way home, back to low with the FIV news. We could not keep him at our home with our other cats, due to the possibility of Stox infecting them, so we decided to take him to my commercial printing business, Bizzy Bee Printing, Inc, in Columbus, Ohio. This has been his full time home since March, 2003. He loves it, and so do we, and so do all of our clients. He now has 4,000 square feet to roam, and he rules the place. He loves people, he follows us all over, he even likes to play baseball with paper wads. He loves to lay on clients' printing orders, or the boxes that the jobs are in. He is quite the salesman too, with several new clients choosing our shop mainly because they have fallen in love with Stox. He is very very special, and his health is great. He eats, drinks, plays, just like a perfectly healthy cat. You would never know he had an illness." Pictures and story sent in by Chris Schmelzer of Columbus, Ohio.
